Hello!
I'm a writer, educator and in a past life was a rock n roll musician. I'm involved in a Chicago-based creative think tank called CFTW, and I've served as an volunteer/advisor to organizations such as One Laptop Per Child (www.laptop.org), Meadan (www.meedan.net), and Kids Caring for Kids (www.kidscaring4kids.org).
My PhD dissertation focuses on how non-profit organizations, educational institutions (and newspapers) and use open source content management systems to make Web sites in different languages.
In general, I'm interested in accessibility, scalability, sustainability, and how technology can support education.
Blogs
Sugar OS: http://www.sugaros.org - The Sugar operating system is used on the laptop from One Laptop Per Child. I like to read the OLPC community news digest and otherwise follow the project, and occasionally highlight interesting things that are happening
Todd Kelsey / Sister Soleil: http://toddkelsey.wordpress.com - This is a personal blog; in a past life I was in a band called Sister Soleil, which recorded an album at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios.
Sunflower Club 1.0: http://sunflowerclub.blogspot.com - The seasonal blog that led to the Sunflower Club:
Sunflower Club 2.0: http://todd.sunflowerclub.net - there's also a fascinating post at the beginning of Walter's blog.
(Note: the Sunflower Club is completely open - anyone is welcome to join - we're experimenting with a multi-user Wordpress installation but may just go back to conventional blogging.)
Poetry
1000 Year Reunion - A poem for the people of the Middle East, which is also translated into Arabic and Farsi.

CFTW - Communication For The World
CFTW is a Chicago-based creative media think tank, which empowers organizations and people to participate in cultural preservation and exchange. The core principles of CFTW are: accessibility, sustainability and scalability. Projects generally involve one or more of these aspects:
-
Community Creation: Social technology and creative property development to help facilitate communities of interest.
-
Cultural Preservation: Approaches and resources to help people to preserve their family history and digital artifacts, regardless of the original format.
-
Media Creation: Empowering people to participate in communities of interest, by helping them learn to create 2d/3d/4d media (images and sound, in multiple languages).
