CMS EDU (www.cmsedu.org) is a new open project that provides a simple platform for non-profits and other entities to ask questions about open source CMS. Initially the platform is based on PHPMyFAQ, which is a simple yet robust and scalable FAQ platform. Developers are needed to be available to answer questions, to work on pilot projects, and to help with the system itself. Volunteer work can lead to paid work, for entities that come along and have resources to pay.
People who are interested in learning new skills are also welcome to indicate interest; skill builders are pointed to training material and offered skill building projects to work on; then they offer themselves as no-cost/low-cost apprentices to develop Web sites for organizations with no resources - the advantage being that this can be a portfolio item for the skill builder.
Even if you do not have a technical background, it may be possible for you to learn how to use free tools such as Google Sites and blogspot, and gradually get to the point where you can competently make your own blog or google Web site, and then feel confident in guiding someone through the same process. The general approach of CMS EDU is to utilize question and answer dialog to help guide the development of learning resources.
